Being Christ-Like

Now that we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and the Holy Spirit now lives inside of each believer,
God has begun the process of making us into the likeness of His Son. Being Christ-like means we are no longer slaves to sin,
but because we are so used to living under that power of sin, we are immature in our walk and have to be taught on the things of God and His ways by the Holy Spirit, the Bible says,
"For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.
Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.
We are a new creation in Christ Jesus.
Being Christ-like also means putting on the mind of Christ we are now His heirs in His Kingdom, and we are representatives of Him here on earth, so we wear the garments of Jesus Christ.
Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.
Becoming Christlike is becoming your true self, you are in the process of Sanctification,
Going through this process your flesh and your spirit will go against each other. This is why Paul said in
I don't understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these two opposed each other, to keep you from doing the things, you want to do.
It is the work of the Holy Spirit that allows us to be changed and have a renewed mind, to learn from Jesus and His teachings, but in order to do that we have to be willing participants as well, when we do this, we have chosen to be fully surrendered to God and trusting Him with every aspect of our lives.
And we all, with unveiled faces, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this
comes from the Lord who is the Spirit
How to Maintain Being Christ-like
This is what I've learned how to maintain being Christ-like.

Reading God's Word Daily
The Bible is God- breathed, it is instruction and direction for our life.
Reading the Bible daily will allow you to know who God is, His character, what He likes and what He doesn't like.
God's word will make you develop and renewed mind and a changed heart.
When reading God's word, we should apply its knowledge and wisdom to our lives.
Reading God's word is intimacy with the Father. His Word does not come back void, there is power in God's Word
For the Word of God is living and active sharper than any two-edge sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous and then you will have good success.
Dying to Self-Daily
Luke 9:23
Then He said to them all,
- "If anyone wants to follow after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me".
- Dying to self is denying yourself on a daily basis.
- Dying to self means laying down your pride and self-righteousness.
God hates prideful people. Proverbs 8:13
"To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech."
- Dying to self means that you cannot do and or say the things that you are accustomed to doing and saying.
- Dying to self means that you have to let go of some things in your life that mean you no good.
- Dying to self means we have to have forgiveness in our hearts to those that have hurt us.
- Dying to self means that we put others in front of ourselves.
Romans 12:1
- Dying to self requires you to give your body to the Lord as a living sacrifice which is your reasonable service.
Staying In Prayer Daily
Having a prayer life is vital in your walk with God, it is our way of communicating with the Father.
" But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words."
God doesn't care about those elaborate prayers; He wants your prayers that comes from your heart. God no longer calls us servants, but He calls us friends.
So, pray to Him like He is your friend tell Him anything you need to tell Him, make your petitions known to Him on a daily basis, whatever you are feeling, if you're having a bad day or a good day, give Him thanks for all He has done in your life and listen out for when He speaks to you, you might not get an answer right away, but be patient.
The Spirit of the Lord is always listening, He is Saying
" Be still and know that I am God."

We are God's children and to be His disciples, we must deny ourselves and follow Him by incorporating His teachings and characteristics into our lives.
