The Renewing of Your Mind

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Romans 12:2

Let's think about this for a minute,

Renewing your mind-

Have you ever thought about the things that run through your mind on a daily basis?

The thoughts about yourself, other people and the problems you face?

How do we transform and renew our minds and not be conformed to this world while living in it?

The word TRANSFORMED means: to make a thorough or dramatic change in the form, appearance, or character of.

It's prefix Trans- means across, though, or beyond.

The word RENEW means: to make like new: restore to freshness, vigor, or perfection.

It's prefix Re- means again: anew.

The word CONFORMED means: to behave according to the usual standards of behavior that are expected by a group or society.

Its prefix Con- means with or together.

We are so accustomed to how we live; It's called our lifestyle. Unknowingly as little children we are formed into the customs and lifestyles of our parents,

We pick up the habits that surround us what we see and what we hear, it shapes us to who we believe we are as we grow up.

We are brought up with rules and regulations, we are told how to think and what to think, what to say and how to say it, when to talk and when not to talk.

We are conformed to a world and a society that we pick up the things that are in it and grow up into it.,

We are bought up not only with our family's standards but also with the world's standards.

Nowadays we see that evil is good and good is evil, we live in a world that has no boundaries, no filter, people do and say what they please with no remorse or conviction, they have no conscience of life, lost and exposed and when you are accustomed to these things, and we find ourselves becoming receptive to it now it becomes a pattern a way of life, as adults we are boggled with many life's challenges good and bad. We now have to learn how to deal with these challenges called life, and so we resort to what we were taught along the way.

Have you ever heard of the saying that a person is stuck in their ways? or the phrase I'm me and I'm not changing for nobody, it is embedded in our minds and hearts, and we become settled and comfortable thinking this is the way of life, this is how it's supposed to be, this is how I'm supposed to react

The Bible says in James 1:2-4

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Renewing your mind, I must say isn't an overnight thing , the devils desire is to keep you off track to keep your mind so consumed with the ways of this world and its patterns, he will find anything and anyone that will be used as that vessel witch can be used to destroy you and your family to bring divination between you and the people around you, to keep you in bondage, to have you acting ignorant, to keep you out of reach to continue to deceive you by making things that are not in God's will look so beautiful, to put sinful thoughts in your mind so you can carry them out, the mind is the battlefield, it is satan's playground and if we don't keep our minds renewed and refreshed everyday with Jesus as our forefront and cornerstone we will continually be defeated in the battle.

satan loves to have God's people stagnated and stuck in their ways with no change carrying the same mind set they have had, and it causes us not to produce good fruit but no fruit.

Producing No Fruit

Why?

Because it keeps us further and further from God the Father to keep us out of His presence, but this is why God in His Infinite, Most Gracious and Merciful Heart, sent His Son Jesus Christ to save us from this wicked and evil world, He said we are in this world, but we are not from this world.

In John 12:16-21, Jesus prayed for His Disciples and us to the Father and said,

They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth. "I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.

We belong to Him and if we belong to Him, we must use our bodies as a living sacrifice on to Him the Bible says in Romans 12:1

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship.

In John 15:8 Jesus said,

By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.
When you do these commands from God you glorify Him

When we walk with Christ we walk in His Peace, we walk in His Power, we walk in His Love and Freedom.

When you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior you and I become a new creation,

As believers and followers of Christ

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 2 Corinthians 5:17

Whatever you have been taught and grew accustomed to is now over we have to reset our minds and follow the ways of Jesus Christ

Philippians 4:7-8

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

We have been reborn again, now we ought to put on a new mind, the mind of Christ, and your old way of thinking is changed to a new way a way of wisdom and understanding, a way of self-control and love. You can start renewing your mind by praying and reading the Word of God, each day read a chapter, or a verse meditate on it day and night take your time spiritual things take time do it until it becomes a part of you

God will do the changing

Ask God to open up your heart to be receptive to His Word and bring you revelation.

We have to leave behind what we once knew and have been accustomed to doing and saying,

Ask yourself what are you accustomed to doing and or saying?

Is it leading you towards God or away from God?

Are you seeking to be a better version of yourself the way God intended? or are you comfortable being stuck in your ways?

I leave you with this:

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Transparent moment

I lived my adult life looking to be wanted and loved, looking to be accepted but I really didn't know what the true meaning of the word Love meant, because I never felt love

When I became a young adult, I based my life on having relationships with having meaningless relationships, I've always wanted that husband and children and my intentions were in the right perspective, but I suffered from not knowing my identity, I identified myself as a woman that had no meaning in this life, confused and did what I was told, it was my safe space, afraid of confrontation, not wanting to be attacked in any form or fashion and so I was consumed and conformed to what the men in my life perceived me to be. I was abused mentally and physically by the men I was with, I had 4 sons and I was single, but living the life of a wife that was to never happen I did get married only to be separated within 3 years and he wasn't my children's father, he was just someone I lusted over and married for the sake of being married, still never feeling loved just lusted over, I was holding on to all of those bondages and strongholds and lies that kept me sheltered and afraid the majority of my life, I struggled and was always on survival mode I dealt with rejection, low self-esteem, abuse, hurt and the non-trust I had for people, I was alone and by me living a worldly lifestyle, accustomed to ways of my living, I thought I was living right but all the while I was living in a world of chaos, confusion and lies, just existing with no sense of direction, being a follower of men I was always worried about what they thought of me, and how they perceived me, they controlled me and I was controlled out of fear for them. I was blinded and in turn I developed my own way of thinking my thoughts were clouded and dark, so I started to believe the lies that was projected on me,

I saw myself as being worthless, so I started not caring about myself and my worth,

I stayed in the clubs, drinking, smoking and being in the company of men and people that meant me no good, I was a "YES GIRL"

My way of thinking was tainted, sexualized and distorted.

But now that I have found Jesus Christ or in better terms, He found me, I started allowing myself to be reconstructed and be built back up with the help of my Savior to renew my mind, on a daily basis and I was able to see my life in a different way and also see the way God sees me through His lens.

I realize that I was coming from a place of pain and hurt.

I was living a life of guilt and shame; rejection, abandonment and worthlessness, I didn't know who I was, I was living my life for the world and not for God.

I keep saying it's a work in progress so don't give up because God won't give up on you.

Your life is your story, but it is not your outcome,

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.

God will clean you up from the inside out, all of what you were accustomed to, introduced to and molded into it will start to fade away.

All of what you carried in your past life is now renewed through the work of the Holy Spirit

Having a renewed mind is a different way of thinking, it is a new and improved lifestyle which leads to a changed heart which produces positive action in your life for the Glory of God

Be conformed to Jesus Christ's way, stay in close communion with God and He will renew your mind and set you free

So, if the Son sets you free, you are truly free. John 8:36

A Prayer for a Renewed Mind

Gracious Father,

Thank You for a renewed mind, Thank You for allowing us to put away our old selves, only to replace it with our new selves, a new way of living and a new way of thinking, we denounce all things that are not of You, and we put on the mind of Your Son Jesus Christ,

You said in John 15:5

I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

We know that we can't do anything without You Lord, so we ask You to continue to help us on this journey of renewing our minds daily and not be conformed to this world but be transformed to a mind of Christ as we walk by faith and not by sight, so that we can display
