Seeking Acceptance from the World

Why do we seek acceptance from the world and not Jesus Christ?

And how do we overcome it and turn back to the Father?

For they loved human praise more than the praise of God.

John 12:43

Acceptance means the action or process of being received as adequate or suitable, typically to be admitted into a group.

The Biblical definition of Acceptance is "To receive with favor."  To take pleasure in"

Thus, when we describe the process of being deemed adequate, 'adequate' refers to being satisfactory or acceptable in quality or quantity. Seeking acceptance from the world implies a desire to belong, to be part of something, and to find satisfaction in what we can obtain, like attention from peers to parents in order to feel desired.

We seek acceptance from the world, believing it has much to offer us. This world promises riches, silver, gold, luxurious homes, and expensive cars, not to mention the joys of one's desires to be or take part of.

Now don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with establishing yourself or having your own personal desires or even to be involved in another person's desires but only if it glorifies Jesus Christ, it gets dangerous when you start idolizing those establishments and fostering a never-ending desire to please yourself and others more than you are pleasing God, If we are not careful, our desires will start to tempts us with material possessions of the world, and  many people will strive for acceptance within a group or clique, often going to great lengths and seeking attention in order to be liked or loved only to be disappointed and this often leads to deception.

Transparent Moment

I was searching for my value in others, which led me to find comfort typically with men, looking for that void in my life to be loved and wanted, I was unfortunate to not knowing my father when I was growing up as many of us have experienced, I was trying to fit in anywhere I could, always trying to fit in the agendas of others, I became a follower, which led to further rejection, hurt,  physical and mental abuse.

When acceptance is denied, we feel unworthy, misused, and unwanted, leading to rejection, jealousy and bitterness.

These spirits sow seeds of unforgiveness, opening the door for negative emotions to take control.

Removing God from the equation, we focus solely on our feelings and turn to the world for answers.

I know firsthand what it means to want to be accepted by individuals, wanting to be heard by others, wanting to be loved, only to be let down, I lived half of my life searching for acceptance and reassurance from others, I dealt with loss at a very young age, I dealt with rejection and hurt at a very young age that followed me all my adulthood, I was searching for my value in others, worried about what they would say if I said this or did that, I truly lost who I was before I even knew who I was and whom I belong to.

We often see this world as a fix to our problems, as an answer to our source and as a shield to our agendas.

Many people do not seek acceptance from Jesus Christ because they struggle to trust in Him. Some view God as a figment of the imagination, a myth they cannot believe in, while others believe science or evolution explains our existence,

Likening God to a Houdini-like figure, while diminishing His true Power within us.

Another reason why some individuals may be hesitant to embrace faith is the belief that following God requires one to be perfect or to perform numerous deeds to gain acceptance.

The Bible says we are undeserving, but it is God's grace that He has given to us through His Son Jesus Christ, it is the free gift from the Father,

it cannot be earned or achieved through works or deeds that we do.

While some find it difficult to detach from this world, others find pleasure in it.

2 Corinthians 5:17 says, Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

1 John 2:16, says, for all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Romans 12:2 instructs us to not conform to the pattern of this world, but to be transformed by the renewal of our mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Jesus Accepts You

God is saying to you today that you are a new creation, in Jesus Christ, the old has gone the new has begun, He is saying to put away the desires cares and concerns of this world.

He is saying Come as You Are and He will do the rest, God is above the heavens and the earth, His Love for us is beyond what we can fathom.

The world shows us that we must live up to a certain standard to be accepted, but God's acceptance is free for all who will receive it.

When He accepts us, He shows His favor towards us, and we take pleasure in knowing that we have a Savior that will never leave us nor forsake us

John 3:16, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

God's Love is called Agape love which extends beyond emotions.

Agape Love is the highest form of love, it is selfless, sacrificial and unconditional, it is the Love that God prefers and to know that His love is not about what we did or that we have to do something in order for Him to love us, it is about who we are in His Son Christ Jesus,

It's about His Death, Burial and Resurrection that saved us

His love has covered a multitude of sins, He died for us while we were yet sinners.

Matthew 5:45, That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

Matthew 11:28-30, "Come to Me", all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, because I am lowly and humble at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and My burdens is light.

John 14:27, Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
